Concrete Quest
Concrete Quest: Building Awareness and Pathways into the Concrete Industry
Launched in summer 2024, Concrete Quest is TCA’s gamified workforce education program designed to introduce high school students to careers in the concrete industry. Developed in partnership with Rocket Start, the program fills a critical gap by providing industry-specific, accessible content that meets students where they are—online, interactive, and mobile-friendly.

Concrete Quest guides students through four educational levels covering concrete basics, materials, applications, and career pathways. Students earn certificates for completed levels, creating resume-ready credentials while building foundational industry knowledge. Since launch, participation has continued to grow through 2025, with 440 total student sign-ups, 20 level completions, and 70 schools engaged to date.

Sustained Engagement and Expanded Outreach (2025)
In 2025, TCA shifted from launch-focused promotion to re-engagement and growth. Students who signed up in 2024 but did not complete the program were actively re-engaged through targeted email and text campaigns, encouraging them to return and finish Concrete Quest.

TCA also expanded awareness through a paid Facebook campaign aimed at parents and educators, reaching over 60,000 people across Tennessee, significantly broadening exposure beyond direct school outreach.

From Learning to Hands-On Application: Concrete Disk Competition
To deepen engagement and move students from learning to application, TCA introduced the Concrete Disk Competition, a hands-on extension of Concrete Quest. Entry into the competition requires completion of Level One of Concrete Quest, reinforcing the educational foundation before students begin their physical builds.

Students create concrete specimens that are evaluated for artistic design, resilience, and compressive strength, combining creativity with technical understanding. Submissions are tested in TCA’s lab, and winners will be announced at the 2026 Skate4Concrete Competition, with results shared via video and social media to further promote the program statewide.
Pilot Launch: Beech High School
In December 2025, TCA piloted the Concrete Disk Competition at Beech High School, where 55 students created concrete cylinders and disks as part of the inaugural trial. This pilot validated the competition format and demonstrated strong student interest, setting the stage for the statewide competition currently underway.

Workforce Impact
Concrete Quest has evolved from a digital learning tool into a multi-step workforce pipeline—introducing students to concrete careers, reinforcing learning through re-engagement, and advancing skills through hands-on competition. Together, Concrete Quest and the Concrete Disk Competition exemplify TCA’s commitment to innovative workforce development and meaningful industry promotion, while creating clear, scalable pathways for the next generation of concrete professionals in Tennessee.
