TCA: Impact, Leadership, and Community

2024 has been a landmark year for the Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA), marked by new initiatives, meaningful community support, and strategic leadership for the concrete industry across the state.

  • TCA proudly launched the Institute for Concrete Leadership (ICL) in 2024, a transformative program designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the concrete industry through networking, soft skills training, and exposure to proven leader/mentors. More details in our Education section.

  • We launched Concrete Quest for high school students, Driver Dash for ready mix delivery professionals and expanded our Skate 4 Concrete efforts to over 50 high schools. Each of these programs has their own section in our application.

  • TCA initiated a Concrete Carbonation Study, funded by the Concrete Advancement Foundation. This 10-year project highlights TCA’s commitment to research and innovation, providing valuable insights into concrete’s role in reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable design practices.

  • After Hurricane Helene, TCA members from other parts of Tennessee donated over 300 bin blocks to aid flood recovery efforts in East Tennessee, delivering these blocks to Elizabethton for use in rebuilding homes and infrastructure.

  • TCA was a sponsor and local pick-up site for TN Tree Day, an annual statewide initiative focused on reforestation and environmental stewardship. TCA has been part of this initiative since its inception and 2024 marked the planting of the millionth tree under this program!

  • Our Annual Scholarship Golf Outing raises funds to support students pursuing careers in the concrete industry, primarily at the CIM Program at Middle Tennessee State University. TCA has supported more than 50 students with scholarships to MTSU, and we also raised $2,000 to support Concrete Cares, another non-profit that supports concrete industry families dealing with childhood cancer.

  • TCA was honored to host the 2024 South-East Concrete Executives (SECE) meeting at its Nashville office. Bringing together regional industry leaders, the meeting facilitated collaboration, knowledge sharing and relationship-building, reinforcing TCA’s role as a leader in regional industry advancement.

With a focus on leadership, sustainability and workforce, 2024 was a year of growth and momentum for TCA. The association remains dedicated to driving progress and strengthening the future of the concrete industry in Tennessee and beyond.

2024: A Year of Recognition and Achievement

This year, TCA has been honored with multiple awards and recognition, highlighting the association’s impact on the concrete industry and beyond:

  • TDOT Recognition: TCA received direct recognition from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, one of the concrete industry’s most important partners, for its contributions and collaboration in advancing industry standards and practices.

  • TSAE Award: Acknowledged by the Tennessee Society of Association Executives, TCA was recognized by state peers for its positive impact on Tennessee’s industry and community.

  • A100 CommImpact Award: This national recognition celebrates TCA’s outstanding internal communications efforts, particularly its success in engaging members with initiatives like Be Pro Be Proud TN and Skate4Concrete.

These honors reflect TCA’s commitment to leadership, innovation and effective collaboration with its members, partners and community.

The Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA) was formed in 1986 (originally known as the Tennessee Ready Mixed Concrete Association) with the primary purpose of promoting the increased use of ready mixed concrete in Tennessee. Today, we have 38 ready mix producer member companies representing approximately 70% of the annual ready mix production in Tennessee.
